AI Bio Generator: Write About Yourself Without the Cringe

Describing yourself in third person is a strange task, which is why most bios are either a job title with no personality or three sentences of adjectives that could describe anyone.

The difficulty is not writing ability. It is that you are too close to the subject to know what matters. This bio generator takes a few inputs and returns several finished options in different styles, so you are choosing rather than composing.

What You Enter

Your name, required. Role or profession. Platform — LinkedIn, Instagram, X, or a website. And achievements or keywords, comma separated.

The achievements field is where a generic bio becomes a specific one. "Marketing manager" produces a bio that describes thousands of people. "Marketing manager, 12 years in B2B SaaS, built a team from 2 to 15, speaks at conferences" produces one that describes you.

Numbers and proper nouns do more work here than adjectives ever will.

Length Is Matched to the Platform

Each platform has its own constraint, and the generator targets the typical length for whichever you select.

Instagram bios are short — a few lines, often with deliberate line breaks. X is shorter still. LinkedIn allows considerably more, and website bios can run longer again.

Writing one bio and pasting it everywhere is why so many Instagram bios are truncated mid-sentence and so many LinkedIn headlines feel thin. Select the platform and the length fits the space.

Three Styles, Because Context Differs

Several variants come back across professional, casual, and achievement-led approaches.

Professional is the safe default — clear, credible, appropriate for a company page or conference listing.

Casual is warmer and more human. Better for creator accounts and anywhere the professional version would feel stiff.

Achievement-led leads with results. Strong when the audience is scanning for credibility — investors, recruiters, prospective clients — and heavy-handed in a social context.

Take one whole, or combine the opening of one with the closing of another.

A Realistic Example: A Consultant Going Independent

Someone leaves an agency to work independently and needs a bio for a LinkedIn profile, a new website, and a speaker listing. She has been rewriting the same paragraph for a week.

She enters her name, her role, and four achievements — years of experience, the industry she specialises in, a notable client type, and a certification. She generates once with the platform set to LinkedIn, then again for a website.

She takes the achievement-led LinkedIn version, softens one line that felt like boasting, and adds a sentence about why she works with that industry. For the website she uses the longer variant with the same opening.

Twenty minutes for both, after a week of getting nowhere.

How to Write a Bio About Yourself

Four things separate a good bio from a forgettable one.

Lead with what you do, plainly. Not your philosophy. What you do, for whom.

Use one specific detail. A number, a named specialism, an unusual credential. One concrete fact beats five adjectives.

Match the platform. A LinkedIn bio and an Instagram bio are different documents, not the same text at different lengths.

Say what you want to happen. If the reader should hire you, message you, or read your work, the bio should point somewhere.

Who Uses It

Freelancers and consultants setting up profiles. Job seekers writing a LinkedIn summary. Speakers submitting to conferences. Creators writing an Instagram bio that is not just emojis. Anyone updating a profile that has been stale for years. Pair it with the Social Media Kit Generator for correctly sized images and the Brand Voice Generator for consistent tone.
