Two Controls That Change Everything
Frame delay in milliseconds sets how long each frame holds. This single number decides whether your GIF reads as smooth animation or as a slideshow.
Short delays produce fast, fluid motion — right for a rotating product or a simple animation. Longer delays give viewers time to read and absorb — right for screenshots, instructional sequences, or anything with text in frame. A common mistake is using fast timing on a sequence that contains words, so nobody can read any of it.
Output width in pixels controls both display size and file weight. GIFs get large quickly, and a full-resolution GIF with twenty frames can reach several megabytes — too heavy for an email signature or a chat message. Reducing the width is the most effective way to bring the file size down.
There is also a loop forever toggle. Leave it on for most uses; turn it off when the sequence has a definite end you want viewers to land on.

She takes three screenshots, names them 01, 02, and 03, and uploads them in order. She sets a long frame delay because each screenshot contains text people need to read, and reduces the output width so the file stays light enough to post inline.
The GIF autoplays in the channel. Everyone sees the workflow without clicking anything — which is the entire advantage of a GIF over a video for something this short.
Keeping the File Small
Three things drive GIF size: number of frames, dimensions, and how much changes between frames.
If your GIF is too heavy, reduce the output width first — it has the largest effect for the least visible loss. Then cut unnecessary frames; a sequence rarely needs every intermediate step. Images with large flat areas of colour compress better than photographic ones, which is why screenshot GIFs stay smaller than photo GIFs at the same size.
